Hello there!
I’m Christina Spragins. Wife to Joey, mother to Lucas, lover of all things coffee, and total DIY junkie.
And this is my outlet. My place for for getting all it out so that I don’t incessantly chatter about the home-related projects that consume my mind. Which I did. A lot. In fact, DIY (ahem… cheap/inexpensive/budget-friendly DIY) was all I wanted to talk about for a time there. So, I decided to create this spot for sharing my DIY successes, failures, and everything in between.
When I started Operation Home, we were in the midst of making our new construction home feel more like us. We strived to add character and personality to the previously beige walls on a major budget. (You can check out the transformation in our House Tour.)
But alas, old passions run deep. Prior to buying our new construction home, we’d wanted an older house in a more established area. Something with character and history. Unfortunately, the market was so competitive at the time that we weren’t able to fill that dream. So, this year, we started house-hunting again… and after nine months of searching, we found this sweet 1970’s home in our very favorite neighborhood.
Here’s a before shot on the day we closed….
The potential in this place was enough to make a grown man weep!! (ormaybethatsjustme) So, stay tuned… I’m so incredibly excited to take on this new DIY adventure and would love for you all to follow along with me.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My husband and Alex played some flag football during their SAE events at UNT. Justin was just so heartbroken to hear of this. We have been praying for you and your family.
Such beautiful words. Sorry doesn’t cut it. Please know you all are being showered with prayers. Life is so confusing and hard to understand. As I type this tears streaming down my face, I am just heartbroken for you all. I do know mine thing though, God has promised us a magnificent place one day soon. In that , there is hope. My deepest condolences.
My heart was aching reading your beautiful and touching tribute. Words are just inadequate at times of loss such as this, but know prayers and love are being sent to surround you and your family. ❤ ❤

A friend of mine just passed on your blog post to me. You and I share a bond that few people have and unfortunately it’s a bond neither of us ever asked for. I was the big sister too. I had a baby brother too. We were 2 years, 3 months and 25 days apart. His name was SFC Adrian M. Elizalde. He was out of the 1st Special Forces Group here at Joint Base Lewis McCord and I was lucky to have him live with me before he deployed in 2007. On August 23rd, 2007, what I would call my very happy perfect life changed. I just wanted to tell you that what you wrote mimicked the feelings I have for my brother. I am so proud of the boy he was and the man he grew up to become. I just wanted to tell you…that there is another Gold Star sister who shares your story.

I’m friends with you Dad and also had the honor of meeting Alex on a few occasions at some car events. What an impressive and focused guy. I thank him for fighting and protecting our county’s freedom that allows me to sleep at night. Your written words about Alex are awesome and tearful. He is missed and I am forever thankful.
